Before you get the wrong idea, Japan Airlines does not hate babies. In fact, they have a number of perks offered to parents with young babies or infants. Japan Airlines offer free check-in of baby equipment, priority boarding, and a number of amenities to families with young children. This includes offering bottle-warming assistance, diapers, and child friendly entertainment.
While JAL has received a lot of positive feedback for its new policy such as one twitter post, “Thank you, @JAL_Official_jp for warning me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13-hour trip. This really ought to be mandatory across the board.”, others including one writer who warns that JAL’s new policy promotes division, and could lead to travelers segregating themselves from those they don’t like or are uncomfortable with. Further, this writer argues that JAL’s policy undermines what we try to teach kids, that is, in life, there are going to be situations in which we’re not happy and that we sometimes must just “grin and bear” it.
